[ARCHIVED] COVID Testing Statement from the First Selectman

free pop up testing flyer

Statement from First Selectman Beth Heller:

Yesterday the Town organized a pop-up COVID clinic providing free tests. This event was done in conjunction with the State – the State has been encouraging all residents in orange- and red-alert towns to get tested even if they’re asymptomatic to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The State brought in Fair Haven Community Health Clinic to provide the tests and the Town worked with Amity Regional High School to provide the site and required amenities. Demand for this free event exceeded expectations and exceeded capacity.  I was very sorry to hear from several people who waited in line for several hours, some of whom were turned away. Although the line was cut off at 4 pm, testing continued for several hours.

I am working with the State to create additional pop-up events in Woodbridge to try and meet the demand. Please be patient! Towns across Connecticut are making similar requests and there are only so many hospitals and clinics available to provide tests. Once we have the date(s) and times we will update everyone.

In the interim, you may find a testing site by visiting 211ct.com/covidtesting. If you have symptoms (cough, fever, chills, difficulty breathing, nausea, etc.) please contact your doctor who may prescribe a test for you. If you are asymptomatic you may contact Griffin Hospital (203-437-6815) as part of the community outbreak program to be tested without a doctor’s order.

previous post:

In conjunction with the State, the Town has organized a free pop-up drive-thru testing event on Wednesday Nov. 18 from 2-6 pm at Amity Regional High School (25 Newton Road). Fair Haven Community Health Center staff will be on hand to provide free PCR testing in the parking lot.

UPDATE: The line has closed at 4 pm due to excessive demand. The Town will work to set up additional future events.

Residents will enter the high school through the Newton Road entrance and exit onto North Pease.

There will be no appointments made and no documents are required.

These tests are free and are for everyone, symptomatic or not.

All residents in orange- and red-alert communities are strongly encouraged to get tested. For additional testing sites visit www.211ct.org/covidtesting
