[ARCHIVED] Celebrate Woodbridge with Woodbridge Fallapalooza!

Fallapalooza poster

Celebrate Woodbridge with Woodbridge Fallapalooza, a month-long series of events that highlights many of the great things about Woodbridge.
Woodbridge Fallapalooza is the coming together of many long-standing events with new events that highlight the Town’s business community, its strong volunteer base and our heritage.

“Fallapalooza highlights what so many of us know – that Woodbridge is an excellent place to live, work and play,” said First Selectman Scalettar. “It’s also a great demonstration of the community spirit and cooperation among so many different local organizations.”

The celebration kicks off on Oct. 1 with the 35th Annual Woodbridge Road Race, which includes a Children's Fun Run and a 5k. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Old Firehouse grove between the Old Firehouse and the Library.

On the same day, the Woodbridge Historical Society hosts its Sylvia’s Attic Tag Sale at the Darling House (1907 Litchfield Turnpike) from 8a.m. – 2 p.m. It costs $15 to reserve a spot to sell your things (reserve by contacting info@woodbridgehistory.org). Attendance is free. There will also be a bake sale and food sale.

On October 5, the Town’s business community is invited to a Business Happy Hour at Solun Tapas Bar, 245 Amity Road from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Attendance is free and regular happy hour specials will be on offer. Businesses are also encouraged to build a scarecrow during the happy hour. Straw and scarecrow frames will be provided – attendees should bring clothing and accessories for their scarecrow.

The fourth annual Marrakech Health and Wellness Fair on Oct. 6 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. will be held at the JCC (360 Amity Road). Attendees at the Health and Wellness Fair, sponsored by Hancock Pharmacy, can get flu shots; have their blood pressure, glucose, and hearing screened; shop for fitness, nutrition, personal care and home products; get a mammogram (appointment required: call 203 576-5500 or 5501), and more. There will also be games and door prizes.

On Oct. 8 Massaro Community Farm will host its Family Fun Day from 1-5 p.m. Attendance is free. The event includes food and traditional games such as sack races and tug-of-war. There will also be face painting, hay rides, pumpkin painting, bake sale, music and more. The rain date is Oct. 9.

The Woodbridge Historical Society invites residents to its Darling House Open House and Hearth Cooking demonstration event on Oct. 16 from 2 – 4 p.m. at 1907 Litchfield Turnpike. Attendance is free.

Coachman Square at Woodbridge (21 Bradley Road) is hosting a Fashion Show on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. which will include fall fashions from Today’s Clothing, Material Girls, Backers, Pamela Hirth, Lucky Ewe, Woodbridge Running Co. and Amity Bike Shop. Clothing will be worn by local models including some Coachman Square residents. Attendance is free and refreshments from local restaurants will be served.

The second annual Woodbridge Restaurant Week will be October 24 – 28. Participating restaurants will offer a $10 three-course lunch, a $25 three-course dinner or a buy-one, get-one option. Woodbridge Restaurant Week Menus can be viewed at woodbridgect.org/Fallapalooza.

Progressions Salon and Wig Boutique’s 13th annual Pampered in Pink event is Oct. 29 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. October is breast cancer awareness month and all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Closer to Free Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Salon services will be provided by volunteer cosmetologists at reduced pricing. Reservations are encouraged (call 203-397-9348) and can be secured with a donation. Breast cancer survivors are “pampered” for free. For more details visit www.progressionshairsalon.com

Fallapalooza will go out with a literal bang at the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Association’s Truck or Treat and Spooktacular Fireworks on Oct. 31 from 5- 8 p.m. This is a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween at the Fire House.
