The staff of the Woodbridge Building Department would like to remind all Woodbridge residents and businesses that building permits are required prior to starting any roofing, siding, interior and exterior remodeling and additions. Similarly, if you are having electrical wiring, service upgrades, or installation of propane tanks and lines, electrical and mechanical permits should be obtained. Building or other permit requirements also apply to construction of accessory structures like sheds, swimming pools and hot tubs.
If your construction activity proposes site disturbance of more than one-half acre, a Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan must be submitted with any site plan, special permit, or zoning permit for development. This requirement, reflected in the Woodbridge Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations, reflects the Town’s commitment to comply with the State’s Phase II Stormwater Compliance Guidelines.
If you are unsure whether a permit is required for work you are planning, please contact the Building Department at 389-3419. Office hours for the Building Department remain 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; office hours for the Building Official remain 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, appointments are recommended. Building Inspections are available daily by appointment and with 24-hour notice. Information regarding the Building Department is also available on the Town of Woodbridge website at www.woodbridgect.org.
