For the month of June, the Woodbridge Town Library is holding a retrospective show of Helen Alexander’s paintings and drawings. A wide range of works from all the periods of her professional life are on display. In the meeting room are a selection of color ink and watercolor still lives on paper from her great series of the 1970s and ‘80s: the fruit, hats, gourds and cups which constitute her best-known works, exhibited and sold in her 5 solo and 3 group shows in New Haven. Upstairs, in the curved hallway around the bookstore, are earlier, more experimental and more personal works, including quick studies from life, landscapes and abstract paintings.
